INSTRUCTION FOR INSTALLATION

1. Before Installation

  • Confirm the right HS-ABS type for the motorcycle to be installed.
  • Installed it in the Master-cylinder. In case that it's not available in the Master cylinder due to lack of space etc., install it to the caliper. Please consult the dealer.
  • The brake locking point varys according to weight of every Motorcycle. Therefore, the rider has to find the locking point of her/his motorcycle by tuning it as per the INSTALLATION PROCEDURE.
  • The perfect performance of HS-ABS can be guaranteed at asphalt road without sand and water. The rider should drive carefully on the roads covered with snow, water, sand and frozen road etc.
  • Recommend the Original Brake Fluid (DOT5) of high boiling point.
  • When the brake lining pads are replaced with new ones, be careful until they match with brake disk at the beginning.

2. Installation Procedure - Front
HS-ABS body in a green label, One master bolt with a master nut, "L" wrench

STEP 1 : DISMANTLE MASTER-CYLINDER

Separate the brake hose from the master cylinder by unscrewing the bolt.

STEP 2 : INSERT HS-ABS MASTER-BOLT

Once the brake hose is removed, assemble the master bolt assy (without its the master-nut) provided by HS-ABS to the master cylinder. Do not over-tighten it.

STEP 3 : JOIN HS-ABS BODY ASSY

Attach HS-ABS and its master nut to the master bolt. Do not over-tighten the master nut. It will be properly tightened later during bleeding in STEP 4.

STEP 4 : RE-ASSEMBLE AND BLEEDING AIR

Re-assemble the brake hose to HS-ABS body. Do not over-tighten it. Then bleed the Master Cylinder by gently applying the brake several times and by tightening and loosening the master nut several times. During the bleeding, add brake fluid to the master cylinder and making sure that the O-ring is intact and no fluid is leaking.

STEP 5 : FINE TUNING AFTER INSTALLATION ......  IMPORTANT

On a dry asphalt surface, apply firm braking from a low speed of 10-20km/h for safety. Be sure to apply the brake only to the wheel with HS-ABS.
A. If the motorcycle skids or the driver feels as if the wheel is dragging, turn the tuning bolt anti-clockwise about 30°. Continue this process - tightening and loosening until the motorcycle comes to a complete stop without skidding or dragging sensation.
B. Repeat tuning gradually upto speeds of 50-60km/h. The ideal tuning point can easily be achieved.
C. Finally turn the tuning bolt anti-clockwise 45° and tighten the tuning bolt by winding "L" wrench (supplied) in the set-screw hole.
